How to go to heaven

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

The Bible says you can know for sure that you have eternal life.  Do you know for 100% certain you are going to heaven?  You may say "no one can know that", but the above verse says we can know.  The reason we can know for sure is because salvation is not based on how we live our lifes.  Although you may not have committed any really bad sins, the Bible says we have all sinned.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
The Bible tells us that we are all sinners.  A sin is when you break one of God's commandments.  The first time you disobeyed your parents, you sinned.  The first time you told a lie, you sinned.  The Bible says when we sin, we earn a punishment.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Wages are what we earn.  Twice a month I receive a paycheck from my job.  Those are my wages.  The Bible says when we sin by breaking his commandments, we earn the wages of "death".   But the type of death the Bible is talking about here is not just a physical death where your body dies and is buried.
Revelation 20:14-15 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (15) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
The "death" we earn for sinning is the "second death".  The second death is described as a "lake of fire".  The Bible says that there is a place called hell, which is a place of fire and torment.  It is a real place where people are punished for all of their sins.  The Bible says every idle word you have spoken will be accounted for in the day of judgment.  Every lie you told, every wrong you have committed will be accounted for and you will be punished accordingly, UNLESS you accept God's free gift.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
God offers eternal life as a free gift.  Hell is described as the second death, but heaven is described as eternal life.   A "gift" is something that is free to the recipient but is paid for by the giver.  If you try to pay for it in any way, it is no longer a gift.  If you try to earn it, it's not a gift.  The Bible says Jesus Christ PAID for the gift of eternal life by dying for us.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his own love for us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
According to the Bible, God loves us and does not want us to go to hell. The Bible tells us that Jesus died for us. He bore our own sins bodily on the cross, according to the Bible, though he himself never sinned at all.  He was God in the flesh, and could not sin, yet he went through all the same temptations that we go through.

Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man.  Jesus said "if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins."  One must believe in that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and that he is God in the flesh in order to be saved.
1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; (4) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
The Bible tells the story of how Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again on the third day according to the scriptures.  Jesus suffered the penalty of our sin so we don't have to.  He bore all of our sins for us, and died in our place.  Just like the wages of sin is death, and death is talking about the second death in the lake of fire, the Bible says in Acts 2:31 that Christ went to hell for us.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

You may have seen or heard this verse before because it is a very well known verse of the Bible.  But most people read, memorize, even cherish this verse, but don't understand what it really means.  To "believe in" someone means to trust them.  In order to "believe in" Jesus to save you, you have to stop believing in everyone and everything else.  A person who says they believe in Jesus, but thinks that they have to live a good life in order to get to heaven actually DOES NOT believe in Jesus.  Jesus already did everything for us.  If you try to ADD your own works to that, you are not trusting fully in what he did, and THEREFORE ARE NOT SAVED.  The Bible says we have to repent of dead works and put our faith towards God to be saved (Hebrews 6:1).  It is crucial to understand that salvation is not of works at all.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9 )Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Notice the Bible says not of works very clearly.  Salvation is a gift, and it's ETERNAL life and EVERLASTING LIFE.  That means once you receive it, it is yours forever.  You cannot lose it! A person that thinks they can lose their salvation is not saved, according to the Bible. Because Jesus called salvation "everlasting life" and he cannot lie.

Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

A person who thinks they can lose their salvation because of a sin they committed is not fully trusting Christ to save them. Somewhere in the back of their minds, they think their works still play a role in salvation.

 In order to be saved a person must stop trusting their works to save them, and fully trust Christ and receive the gift of everlasting life, which was paid in full by Jesus Christ.  The Bible promises that if you do that, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

All you have to do to receive the gift of eternal life is believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, and call upon him to save you.  That's all there is to it!  But you must believe in the Jesus of the Bible; the Jesus who is the saviour of the world (1 John 4:14), the Jesus who is God in the flesh (John 1:1, 14; 1Tim. 3:16, Heb. 1:8), and the Jesus who is also the son of God (Mark 1:1, John 3:18) .

The "Jesus" of the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons is NOT THE JESUS OF THE BIBLE.  Because Jesus is God in the flesh according to the Bible, and the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons do not believe that.  Jesus said "if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins." (John 8:24)

The "Jesus" of the Pentecostals and Church of Christ (who teach that Jesus is the father and deny the trinity) is NOT THE JESUS OF THE BIBLE!  The Bible says you must believe that Jesus is the son of God to be saved. (1 John 2:23)

The "Jesus" of the Catholic church, and all other denominations that teach works salvation is NOT THE JESUS OF THE BIBLE.  Jesus is the SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD.  That means HE SAVES PEOPLE, HE DOESN'T HELP PEOPLE SAVE THEMSELVES.  You must trust Jesus ALONE to save you (Rom. 11:6, Matt. 7:21-23)

PLEASE GET SAVED NOW - NOW IS THE ACCEPTABLE TIME!
2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
The Bible says "now is the day of salvation". Not tomorrow, today! I once wanted to give someone the gospel at work and thought to myself I would give it to him the next time I saw him. He went home and had a heart attack while mowing his lawn and died. There was no "next time." It's urgent that you get saved right now!

If you would like to get saved right now, the Bible says you should call upon the name of Lord to be saved. You can pray this prayer right now:

"Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner and deserve to go to hell. But I believe you died for me, paid the price for my sins, and rose up from the dead. Please save me and give me everlasting life. Amen."

If you prayed this prayer and truly believe in your heart, you will be saved according to the Bible's promise.  The next step is to start reading the Bible.  You should also get baptized by a local Bible believing chruch.  However, baptism is not necessary for salvation, only faith in Christ is necessary.

FEEL FREE TO USE THIS PAGE TO SHARE THE GOSPEL WITH OTHERS.  The Bible records Jesus and the Apostles talking one on one with people and getting them saved.  You can have it ready on your phone to show anyone the gospel.
